Updates for 2008:

  • Fuel injection
  • New fuel tank
  • New 2008 colour: Pacific Blue/Aegean

BRITISH ENGINEERED STYLE
The Triumph America mixes classic British engineering with style straight from the USA highways, with its wide bars, forward set pegs and relaxed, parallel twin power.

Using the iconic Triumph Bonneville as a base, the America builds on a fantastic package. Its 865cc, air-cooled, DOHC, parallel-twin cylinder engine shares its basic architecture with the Bonnie, but the 270º firing angle provides a loping exhaust note and smooth power delivery that’s big on easy-going drive and full of character. The engine has been updated for 2008, swapping carburettors for a fuel injection system. The fuel injected engine ensures the America is up to speed with the forthcoming Euro 3 emissions legislation. As well as being environmentally friendly, the fuel injected engine is easier to fire up from a cold start and runs more smoothly. The styling of the America remains uncompromised as the fuel injectors have been cleverly concealed by throttle bodies designed to look like carburettors.

The engine fires out through a pair of deep-chrome reverse silencers, spinning the cast 15 inch rear rims crowned with a fat, 170/80-section rear tyre through a five-speed gearbox. The polished telescopic forks add substance and a solid look to the America’s raked front end, enhanced by the 18 inch cast front wheel with its 110/90 tyre. The twin-piston calipers and front and rear disc brakes take care of stopping duties.

The America is a true cruising bike built to cover ground and is a great place to start a motorcycling career. Both new and experienced riders will appreciate the sure-footed ability of the chassis and the confidence-inspiring handling. The riding position is relaxed for both rider and pillion and offers a supremely comfortable ride, thanks to the large, low 28 inch seat, forward set pegs and raked handlebars.

The America is made to be admired with its slab-style top yoke and chromed shock absorbers giving it the very essence of cruiser chic. But the America also offers something a little different; a sense of its own style and heritage that allows it to stand out from the rest of the clone-like cruiser market. Above the redesigned teardrop shaped 19.3 litre (4.3 gal) fuel tank sits a deep-chromed instrument console and matching classic style Triumph tank badges.

A brand new colour option, Pacific Blue and Aegean with a gold hand painted coach line, joins the existing Pacific Blue and New England White with a gold coach line colour option and the Phantom Black colour option.

Freedom and individuality define the essence of cruising and the America encapsulates both. The simple addition of genuine Triumph accessories designed specifically for the America, such as luggage options or chrome parts, allows the rider to further personalise their bike and mark out their personal identity.

The need to explore lies deep within the human soul. As the open road beckons, the America is just waiting to be ridden providing an enjoyable passport to two-wheeled freedom.
